Where is a good place to stay in Kauai in early December?

Will be in Kauai for a few weeks in early December, looking for a good place to stay, quiet, near the beach and restaurants. Would like some local color too, so not too interested in chain hotels, etc.

The Kauai Marriott Resort & Beach Club is amazing. It is only a few minutes away from the harbor and about 20 min away from the airport. There is a nice little restaurant called Dukes within walking distance. I know it is a chain hotel, but it’s right on the beach. It’s crazy expensive though.
The Aloha Beach Hotel is another great option in the northern part of the island. It would be less expensive, but not nearly as nice as the beach Marriott.
Kauai is one of the most beautiful islands in Hawaii. Whatever you do, go out to see as many of the waterfalls as possible and Waimea Canyon is a must see! I can send you a picture of it that I took when I was there. Have fun!
