Seeking for an Exotic Get-A-Way

I’ve always craved the exotic! From the clothing I wear, to the foods I eat and especially the places I travel. I visited Expedia and found the answer to my cravings; it was Singapore. Traveling to Singapore is much more than you would expect and less than you thought you’d pay, especially if you take advantage of Expedia coupons.

Highlights of My Vacation
I wanted to see for myself what a Chinese New Year would be like amongst the Chinese people. I worked with Expedia to make my arrangements and once there, it was so much more than I expected. The festivities are on going from January the 3rd through the 15th of February. I traveled to the Chinatown neighborhood and had myself a blast watching the colorful dragons and people go by.

Although Chinese New Year is celebrated throughout Singapore, it is Chinatown that is the key spot for most of the celebrations. I hung out with the local denizens at the street vendors and took in a few of their nightly entertainment options. The celebratory food for the Chinese New Year is yusheng which is raw fish salad. Be sure to check online for more information regarding the celebrations. If you don’t make it this year, what you see will tempt you to book your trip with Expedia for next year.

Staying in Town
I made the Furama Riverfront Hotel, Singapore my home base as it was located right in the middle of town. My choice of hotel allowed me easy access to Chinatown where I planned to be and afforded me the chance to shop and dine along the business district of Orchard Road. My suite was well furnished and I enjoyed amenities such as a private bath with all of the modern fixtures, a mini bar and an essential requirement for me, internet access. The beds were just about the softest I have ever slept on at any resort.

Where I Ate
I couldn’t resist the allure of Canele Patisserie Chocolaterie, so I treated myself to a amazing dinner of Corn & Crab Chowder to start along with Mushroom Alfredo Spaghetti. I made sure that I left plenty of room for the best part, dessert. I chose the Foret Noire or Black Forest with a amazing combination of kirsch Chantilly cream, chocolate ice cream and a dark compote made from cherries. It was one of the best deserts I’ve ever had.
